the welcome message
i spent the first haf an hour or so googling and flipping through the stack of reference materials, half wishing that i'm back at home with the shelf full of references within hand's reach. another half went to drafting the 200-word welcome message for the programme booklet.
it hit me later that probably half the readers (or more) won't give a hoot anyway. so i've decided to make the best out of the photo that'll be put up on the same page instead.
